Combination Honduras, Guatemala & Belice
14 Days / 13 Nights Focus: Mayan Culture, Caribbean Impressions, Colonial Cities, Nature Experience
Day 1: San Pedro Sula Arrival at San Pedro Sula international airport. You will be met and welcomed and then transfered to your hotel. Overnight in San Pedro Sula.
Day 2: San Pedro Sula – Lancetilla – Tela Your guide will meet you at the hotel reception. Together you will start a short city tour through San Pedro Sula, known as the industrial capital of Honduras. Among other sites you will visit the Guamilito Market where you can find vegetables, flowers, handcrafts and the famous corn tortillas. Transfer to Tela on the Caribbean Coast. In Tela, one of the largest tropical gardens in the world - the Botanic Garden of Lancetilla - invites you with its beautiful plants an amazing flowers to an extended walk. 2 overnights in Tela.
Day 3: Tela – Punta Sal After breakfast we set out to a Garifuna village (afrocaribbean population) in the Punta Sal National Park (also known as Janeth Kawas National Park). The tropical rainforest as well as the coast belong to a protected area. On a boat trip on the lagoon Los Micos you might have the possibility to observe Parrots, Tucanes and Monkeys. In the afternoon we return to Tela.
Day 4: Tela – Lago de Yojoa – National Park Azul Meambar In the morning we drive towards the interior of the country and visit the biggest lake in Honduras. The lake Yojoa impresses above all with its great variety of fish and birds. In the afternoon we continue to the National Park Azul Meambar. This is an extended mountain region covered with intact forest that is a refugee for tropical birds such as Tucans, Turkeys, Parrots and Mot Mots. It is a must-see for passionate naturalists. 2 overnights in the visitor's center of the park.
Day 5: Azul Meambar National Park This day will be dedicated to the discovery of the fascinating National Park. According to your physical condition and motivation we walk up to the cloud zone of the park through well-marked trails. You can enjoy a marvelous view over untouched rainforest and the Lake Yojoa. In the afternoon we will walk to a nearby waterfall where you can take a refreshing bath.
Day 6: Azul Meambar – Copan Ruinas Today we start the day with a refreshing bath in the 40-meter high waterfall of Pulhapanzak. In pre Columbian times the waterfall was used for ceremonies. We continue driving to the west of Honduras until we reach our next destination Copan Ruinas. After the arrival you will have enough time for a stroll through the romantic colonial town.

Day 7: Copan Ruinas On our seventh day we will visit the archeological park of Copan. In the afternoon we will take a deeper look at the "Sepulturas ", a residential and burial site of the Mayan nobles. Apart from Tikal Copa is recognized as one of the best excavated archeological sites. Learn about the impressive 63-step stairway with over 2,500 hieroglyphs and masterfully carved Stella. By now it is longest Maya text that has been discovered. You will have enough time to take pictures. 2 overnights in Copan.
Day 8: Copan Ruinas – Quirigua – Rio Dulce / Guatemala We leave Honduras in direction of Guatemala. Our first destination will be the Mayan site in Quirigua, which is a small oasis in the middle of a banana plantation. The greatest attraction in Quirigua is the exceptionally high Stellas. One of them is 10 meters high and weights 60 tons.
Day 9: Rio Dulce – Livingston – Rio Dulce This morning our means of transportation will be a bit different as Livingston is only accessible by boat. Among others we will pass the Chocon Machacas Biotope, which is a refugee for the rare manatees. The small village of Lvingston is famous for its exclusive mixture of cultures such as Garifuna, Maya and Latino.
Day 10: Rio Dule – Flores On our way from Rio Dulce to the Lake Itza we will pass the unsettled forest regions of Peten. After our arrival you have enough time for a walk through the friendly island village Flores. 2 Overnights.
Day 11: Flores – Tikal - Flores We will set out early to the National Park Tikal. This beautiful archeological site that had it's high time in 250 and 900 A.C. and has conserved its unique charm until today. The giant pyramids are much higher than the trees and of such elegance and mysticism that you will never forget them. We will discover interesting places and buildings. You can see the five temple structures, palaces, baths as well as the north, center and south acropolis. Furthermore you can observe Parrots and howler monkeys.
Day 12: Flores – San Ignacio / Belice On our way to San Ignacio we will stop to visit the Mayan site Xuantunich. The pyramid „El Castillo" is with its 40 meters still the second highest building in Belize. Over the rainforest you can see Guatemala. 1 Overnight in San Ignacio.
Day 13: San Ignacio – Belice City After a stop in the Belize Zoo we will continue to Belize City. Originally the zoo had the aim to be a refugee for wild animals captured for documentaries. Today its target is to give the local population the opportunity to get to know the animals living in their country. Until today the zoo only inhabits endemic species. The day will end with a City Tour.
Day 14: Belize City We will transfer you to the international airport. Optional we transfer you back to Guatemala o Honduras (for an additional charge). End of the program. It is possible to extend your trip to the Ambergries Cays (Blice) or to the Bay Islands (Honduras).
