Combination Honduras & Guatemala
14 days / 13 Nights Daily from/to San Pedro Sula, 2 passengers minimum
Day 1: San Pedro Sula You will be met at the San Pedro Sula Airport and transferred to your hotel in the centre of the city. Free time to relax. Overnight in San Pedro Sula.
Day 2: San Pedro Sula - Copan You will be met at your hotel by a Mesoamerica representative who will transfer you to the direct service bus to Copan. On your way to Copan you will travel through beautiful countryside. A hotel reservation will be made for you. This hotel is only a short walk from the direct bus terminal. The rest of the afternoon is left free to enjoy and explore the picturesque village of Copan. 2 Overnights in Copan Ruins.
Day 3: Copan In the morning your local guide will meet you in your hotel and escort you to the Copan Ruins Park which is located 20 minutes walk from Copan. You will tour the legendary Archaeological Park of Copan, which consists of two main sites: the ruins and the sepulchres. Learn about the impressive 63-step stairway with over 2,500 hieroglyphs and masterfully carved Stella. Overnight.
Day 4: Copan - Quirigua / Guatemala - El Remate (Tikal) Your private guide welcomes you at the lobby of your hotel around 09:00 AM. Today we leave Honduras and depart towards Guatemala. On the way we visit the Maya site in Quirigua known for its over 10 meter high stellas. We continue our trip to the North of Guatemala to El Remate. 2 overnights at Hotel Camino Real, located directly at the Lake Peten Itza.
Day 5: Tikal Early in the morning we depart towards Tikal Ruins in the huge Tikal National Park. While listening to the howler monkeys swinging and dangling from the highest trees and watching the parrots flying around, we discover the interesting sites and buildings: Five different temple structures, palaces, spas and the North, Central and South "Acropolis" can be found here. In the late afternoon we return to El Remate for our second overnight.
Day 6: Tikal - Lago de Izabal - Fortress San Felipe We continue our journey to our next stop at Lake Izabal. After a short refreshment we take a short boat trip towards the Fortress San Felipe, located about 300 meters away from our hotel. This fortress was built in 1652 to protect the local population and trading caravans against the assaults of pirates. 2 overnights.

Day 7: Rio Dulce This day, the activities are up to you. Relax in your hotel, paddle with kayaks on the lake or just enjoy the atmosphere of this breathtaking landscape. As an option, we offer a trip up the River Dulce to Livingston where you may experience the flair of this lively Caribbean town. A boat trip on the lake is also worth doing to have a closer look at the nature, its flora and fauna as well as the many small villages right on the shore.
Day 8: Rio Dulce - Omoa - San Pedro Sula / Honduras This day leads us along the beautiful Caribbean Coast to the Honduran beach town of Omoa. The small Fortress San Fernando was built by the Spaniards and offers apart from the interesting history the chance to catch a glimpse of the picturesque Omoa Bay. Before dusk we reach San Pedro Sula where we overnight.
Day 9: San Pedro Sula - Lancetilla - La Ceiba Transfer from San Pedro Sula to La Ceiba. En route we visit the Lancetilla Botanical Garden. The United Fruit Company founded the gardens over 70 years ago as an experimental botanical site. Here you will find hardwood, medicinal and ornamental plants as well as tropical fruit trees from all over the world. You will see how the bamboo forest absorbs some 90% of the daylight, admire the long rows of majestic Royal Palms or try exotic fruits fresh from the tree. An Orchid Garden and a Natural Reserve with a beautiful 1,200 hectares of virgin tropical rain forest make up this wonderful natural area. Overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 10: La Ceiba Today it's your choice: we go rafting on the Rio Cangrejal class 2 - 3 or 4 rapids, home to some of the best white water in Central America or we enjoy a day of hiking in the Pico Bonito National Park. A third option is to go on a Canopy Tour. All programmes last until late afternoon. Overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 11 - 13: La Ceiba - Tela Transfer to Tela where we will stay for the last days of our journey. Days are left free to enjoy the sun, sand and tropical atmosphere of the Caribbean coast of Honduras. Optional excursions to nearby national parks may be organized at an additional cost. For example Punta Sal National Park invites you to a boat trip to explore the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea, hike through the jungle and taste a typical Garifuna style lunch. The excursion to Punta Izopo National Park involves kayaking through the maze of mangrove creeks and rivers that make up this national park. The kayaks offer the perfect mode of transport to explore the mangroves and silently sneak up on the many animals and birds that inhabit the park. 3 Overnights in Tela.
Day 14: Tela - San Pedro Sula Transfer to the San Pedro Sula airport on time to connect to your international departure flight or extension program to the beautiful Bay Islands. End of program.
