Day 5-7: Las Marías / Río Plátano
During our stay, we enjoy many activities. For example, with the help of our local guides and pipantes, we navigate on the river to the petroglyphs, numerous mysterious rock carvings. The forest around Las Marías offers many hiking trails of different levels of difficulty. These trails lead us through virgin forest, that is home to over 350 species of birds and to many large mammal species, some being white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, giant anteaters, white tailed deer and white-lipped peccaries. We learn more about the flora and fauna, we take hikes into the heart of the jungle; observe the rich diversity of flora and fauna. Enjoy the company of your local guides, the Pech, and their diverse cultural heritage, relax or bathe in the river. Our meals and lodging are basic and at a local family's house.
Day 8: Las Marias - Miskito Coast
