About 800 different species of plants grow in the Lake Yojoa Region, which is approximately 10% of the national flora. With so many plant options, it is easy to understand how around 407 different species of birds live nearby or in this area. This stretch also serves as temporary refuge to innumerable species of mi-grant birds which travel to these lands during the North American winter, making this area a real “hotspot” for bird watchers, boasting a great opportunity to see some of them. Motmots, toucans, orioles and much more are readily visible after a short hike.
